The Piece of Cake Story

I have planned events professionally since 2009, everything from country music festival sponsorships and crisis drills to kids’ triathlons. I worked in public relations, and I loved the event-focused aspect of my job, but I always felt like something was missing. I planned my own wedding in 2012, and my only regret is that I tried to act as my own planner. I missed out on so much of my wedding day because I was handling logistics. My mom was also moving non-stop setting up all of our décor, and I don’t even remember talking with her on my wedding day. I don’t recommend it, and certainly don’t want you to look back on your day with the same regrets. I decided to merge my love of event planning and passion for the wedding industry into one, and vowed to start my own wedding planning company so that no couples would feel how I felt - like they missed out on their day because they were conducting it.

The next few years involved me keeping my day job in PR and helping friends and family with weddings on the side. Fast forward to March 2017, I finally launched this company and never looked back! Piece of Cake is my passion, meaning my couples and the work I do is my passion as well! Over the years, I’ve continued to grow the company, and we now have multiple planners on the team who are absolutely incredible; who add additional talent, strength and wisdom to our team, and we love being a part of your weddings. We keep our promise every day - making sure our couples get to enjoy their wedding days and planning journeys!

Paige Deck | Lead Planner

Hey there! I’m Paige! I have my bachelor’s degree in communication and science disorders, as well as my master’s degree in special education from the University of North Dakota. I practiced as a master aesthetician for ten years where I had the honor of doing makeup for many couples, brides, families and wedding parties on their special days. I also have years of restaurant management and catering experience, which led to my love of events and all things weddings! I’m kind of a Jackie of all trades and love to utilize my diverse background to help couples have the most seamless planning experiences and amazing wedding days. My partner, Jake, and I live in Burnsville with our daughter, Wylie and our mastiff mix, Brew. The way to my heart is tacos and cozy, oversized sweats. I try to have a green thumb, but sadly, a snake plant is all that I can keep alive. I love to organize, declutter, and rearrange my home more than necessary - mostly so I can bring in new, fun things!

Wedding planning has always been a passion of mine. I love working with your vendor team and bringing all the different aspects together to create one incredible day. Watching a couple truly be present throughout their special day is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. I love non-traditional aspects of weddings! Let’s brainstorm ideas that speak to you and your partner as a couple, bring that idea to life, and allow your guests to feel your love and excitement on your wedding day. Haley Hagstrom | Assistant Planner

Hi, my name is Haley! My love for events started when I was a banquet server for a beautiful wedding venue in college. During this time, I also helped plan events for student organizations on campus. I love watching all of the details come together on wedding days! In addition to working with our Piece of Cake couples, I am a waitress for busy bar and grill. Outside of work, I enjoy attending live music events, checking out new restaurants, walking around the lakes and catching up on reality tv shows.

I was reintroduced to working with weddings specifically in 2022, and I knew I wanted to jump back into the industry! I love getting to know each couple, imagining their vision and then watching it come to life in front of our eyes. Being able to help make that happen for our couples is so fun, and quite the honor. I’m looking forward to helping you on your most special day!

Isabella Williams | Assistant Planner

Hey there! I’m Bella. I am a lawyer living in Minneapolis with my partner Michael, my puppy Fridge, and our two bunnies, Hank and Indy. When I’m not working,  I love a good board game or a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse. I’m definitely a homebody, but I won’t say no to a good trip to Vegas or the UK! In my spare time, I’m all about spending quality time with friends and loved ones and relaxing at a happy hour with chicken wings and cheese curds. I’ve always had a love of food and cooking, but I can’t bake to save my life.

I found my love for wedding planning after working as a bridal stylist for two years in Eagan. I could finally combine my love of logistics and organization (the office/planner aisle at Target is my dream come true) with my need for a creative outlet and most importantly, a space to make people happy on the best day of their lives. Now, here I am, and I’m so excited to work with you! I’m so happy to be a part of the Piece of Cake team, and to make your special day everything that you dreamed of and more!

Kayla Adducci | Assistant Planner

Hi! My name is Kayla. I recently graduated from the U of MN with my Master’s in Occupational Therapy. In the fall, you can find me tailgating and cheering on the Gopher football team- Ski U Mah! I live in Robbinsdale with my husband and son, Hudson, however, we are currently in the process of building a home. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, either at different dining scenes across the Twin Cities or at the cabin.

I am so excited to be a part of the Piece of Cake team! My background in patient care has given me the listening skills, quick thinking, and patience needed to ensure a smooth wedding day for our couples!
